Roxas Green Development for Nature-positive, Low-carbon and Inclusive Urban Systems

Futures Inc. launched the Roxas Green Development Project, an initiative designed to position Roxas City as a model for sustainable, climate-resilient growth in the Visayas region in the Republic of the Philippines.

The ongoing feasibility and investment study, led by Futures Inc. in collaboration with a local philanthropist and technical partners, is centered on identifying and developing nature-based solutions (NbS) to enhance urban resilience, protect coastal ecosystems, and create new opportunities for green investment. The study explores how mangrove restoration, terrestrial reforestation and sustainable practices can be integrated into Roxas City’s broader economic development strategy.

Preliminary findings highlight significant potential for NbS-driven climate adaptation alongside complementary opportunities in low-carbon transport and energy-efficient public infrastructure. These combined strategies are expected to strengthen Roxas City’s ability to attract green finance and position it as a leading example of nature-positive urban development in the Philippines.

The Roxas Green Development Project is part of Futures Inc.’s ongoing work to help proponents across the Philippines transition toward nature-positive, low-carbon, and inclusive urban systems.
